#07-22 ALBW Day 6
Day 6 - April 7, 2022
This was the day for another bus tour we definitely couldn't miss, Sutton Park which was used in GJ as Ann Walker's Crow Nest home where Anne Lister began wooing her in 1832.
The home was stunning but sadly there was no indoor photography allowed. The only photo we have is from someone else of the infamous stairway they both run up in series 1 after Ann asks "shall we go upstairs"?
The grounds were beautiful and it was fun to see exteriors that were used in the series including the front entrance that Anne strutted up to at the end of series 1.
We enjoyed a lovely tea with scones, jam & Devon cream before our tour.
On our return to Halifax, we visited the Calderdale Archive Service where many of Anne Lister's diaries reside and a few items related to Ann Walker.
Next up was our final visit to the Halifax Minster (we could have gone there EVERY day!). I was fortunate to stumble upon an area behind the organ where I saw the original organ pipes and many burial plaques on the walls. Then to see Anna Jaxe's brilliant mural of Anne Lister on a pub.
The last stop for our day was a drive to Shibden Mill Inn where we had a lovely meal and saw the sun setting on the Calder Valley. Our friend Kathy came to bid us farewell as we were doing our own driving trip the following day.
It was an extreme pleasure to meet so many wonderful people throughout ALBW. I hope we can meet again!
Walked: 15,389 steps (10.09 kms)
